Forester is generally a term specifying the designation connected with the Department of Forests. So the lowest level of officer to the head of the Forest Forest Force are the Foresters of the Department.
But Range Officer is an Officer of the Department of Forests who has the specific powers in the notified areas of the Range. This geographical area may include both forest and non-forest areas.
At the same time, there are some States in which the Department of Forests have the officers like Forest Guards (Beat Forest Officers), Foresters (Section Forest Officers), Deputy Range Officers, Range Forest Officers, Divisional Forest Officers, Conservator of Forests, Chief Conservator of Forests, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests etc.
